How does Patriot work

Patriot works by bringing together data from a series of databases to provide relevant information to the insurer to validate certain aspects of the claim and also allows direct access to databases of stolen property used by the police.

Claim Reduction

Patriot allows the insurance company to disuade fraudulent claims. This is achieved by providing the insurer the ability to report stolen property directly to the UK Police systems on behalf of the claimant rather than having to rely on the customers word that it has been reported. The system also flags the items as stolen on CheckMEND - the second hand trade and publicly checkable due diligence system and if recorded allows the insurer to validate any crime reference number supplied by the claimant.

Claimants still in possession of goods perpetrate many insurance frauds as they wish to retain the use of the goods or sell them. Being able to report goods directly onto the Police national stolen property system and CheckMEND via Patriot is a strong deterrent as the chances of being caught in possession of or attempting to sell stolen goods is now greatly increased.
